Fancy Bustle

The Fancy Bustle Dance is a lively and colorful dance performed by the Northern Cheyenne tribe. Dancers wear vibrant outfits with many feathered bustles creating a striking look. The dance features fast footwork, spins, and jumps set to energetic drum music and singing. It’s often part of competitions at cultural events, allowing dancers to express their agility and creativity. This dance is an important way for the Northern Cheyenne to celebrate their culture, connect with their heritage, and express pride in their identity. It has also adapted to incorporate modern elements while retaining its traditional essence.
